Hey guys.  You may or may not be aware that, while I moved to Austin a few months ago, I have spent the majority of my life in Houston.  My family has been unbelievably lucky in this disaster in that their homes have not been flooded, but as it stands, my parents and much of my mother's family (who live in the Beaumont area, where most of the rain fell this Wednesday) are flooded in and pretty much stuck and without power for the next few days while the water recedes.  They'll be fine, but many people in the Houston area and along the coast were not so lucky.

I don't have a lot of cash right now to contribute, but I am currently planning to go volunteer in Houston and Beaumont at the end of next week to make up for that (and to check on my family and friends).  I would ask that all my readers consider making a donation if possible to a LOCAL charity in the Houston, Port Arthur, or Beaumont area.  If you are in Texas, please prioritize making monetary donations first, as charities are best able to spend those dollars to provide the most relief.  If you do have goods to donate, however, please focus on feminine hygiene products, diapers, and other toiletries, as these are the most often overlooked and most in demand goods.  Most of the shelters have plenty of clothes and will not accept them at this point.

I'm currently looking into some POD options for printing copies of Metacarpolis Vol. 1, and Metacarpolis is basically an alt-history Houston (if you didn't pick up on that), I want to use this chance to help with charity efforts.  If the POD options I'm looking at turn out alright, I will put them up for sale and donate the profit for all sales to rebuilding efforts in the Houston metro (if you have a recommended charity for this, please let me know! Right now I'm considering the Houston Food Bank but if you have an idea let me know and I'll research it).  The books aren't ready quite yet (still awaiting a proof) but if you buy anything from my current store or Teepublic from now till the end of September, I'll also donate those profits to a local charity.

Please keep Houston and the whole Texas & Louisiana coast in your thoughts and I appreciate your patience if this causes any delays with Patreon updates (right now the buffer is through early October so I'm not expecting delays on the main site).

EDIT: I also made Metacarpolis Vol. 1 available as a PDF for those asking for a digital version.  All proceeds will be donated as stated earlier!

ANOTHER EDIT: WHOOPS, I accidentally put the wrong shipping category on the PDF, which doubled its price.  Shipping should be properly free on it now!
